E
hi, I've recently started a new character who is an assassin/thief. he's literally only on level 3. he's a khajiit, he uses daggers, a bow and illusion magic as well as the obvious (lock picking, speech, pickpocketing)
this is just a plan for my character, i was going to make him a vampire as well but i would like your opinion on what perks i should use and what i should invest in
Even though you dont really want my opinion on this, but.
Rethink about being a Vampire:
Yes, it does have advantages as in being invisible, but being attacked on sight and burning in the sunlight isnt that good. Since you are a level 3, I would recommend being a vampire when you cleared the Main Questline and discovered most of skyrim. (Speaking for myself, I REALLY dont have the patience to "wait" till morning because im a Vampire.)
Again, you probably dont want my opinion on this:
Skills :
You should probably want to level up these skills if you dont have such a high skill.
Archery: You would be like hell on wheels when this gets up in the 40's and 50's (This goes with sneak)
Enchanting: This is mostly important for an assassin/thief character, if you didnt discover weapons with enchantments as yet, these are an "upgrade for weapons" and you destroy a weapon with enchanting to learn the enchantment then use soul gems to power the weapons up. (dont worry soul gems are easy to come across, just need to find/buy soul trap (Spell Tome) from Farengar (Court wizard in Whiterun) or from in the College in Winterhold and have enough magika, and you cast it and those empty soul gems would be filled. (After I finish off the Skills here, I would say a bit more about it)
*SMITHING: This is VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT. When you get the perks as I will say later, you can upgrade or sharpen your weapons and when you do, they have a higher sale price and they do more damage. Also when you get the perk Arcane Blacksmith (Requires Level 60 Smithing and Steel Smithing) you can upgrade enchanted items. Then, it would be more than hell on wheels.
Light armour: This isnt (in my opinion) very necessary. But, the perks in the tree can increase the armour rating and bonuses, if you have alot of skill points now, and a high level in light armour just get a few perks that sound useful to you.
OBVIOUSLY:
You need Sneak very high, combined with the archery at a fairly HIGH level, you can one shot enemies literally by standing infront of them.
Lockpicking: Work this level up as much as possible, but im not saying WASTE your picks. Once you have alot of gold (speaking around 10,000 or 6,000 -> 9,000 gold) you can be trained by people in the Theives Guild.
** Also, here comes the Enchanting skill. Once you find a piece of apparel (necklace, boots etc.) with a % easier to pickpocket, if you dont need it RIGHT away and you have a black soul gem at hand or THE BLACK STAR, you can dischant this to learn the enchantment and put it on as much apparel as you can. I would state my way of doing it.
SPEECH: Barely needed, but work this up to a fair level in case you get caught stealing or killing, you can persuade the guards to lower your bounty if your in with the theives guild.
Alchemy: Alchemy boosts up Lockpicking and other skills as well for a shot time when you have the right ingredients.
Spells:
ALTERNATION: The only good I see so far is Paralysis, if your an assassin and the enemy is a difficult person to kill, paralysis would freeze them to hit in a few strikes to them to get them nearly dead.
Conjuration: For trapping souls for alchemy.
One Handed: Assassins dont use Two-Handed for as all I know. Even if you are dual wielding, its still one handed. WORK THIS UP
I think I covered most things. I would try out most of the perks myself and judge them. But, I suggest getting the first and second perk for each of the skills I mentioned and almost the whole tree for Archery.
**** THE BLACK STAR:
Its an artifact from a daedric quest that can hold Black souls, its as great as the Greater soul gems and the black soul gem is very hard to find (for me, I only encountered one).
To get it:
Go to the shrine of azura, which is not too far off of Winterhold, you should see it on your map.
Speak to the priestess and accept the quest.
Speak the the woman that guards the college of winterhold (you DONT have to go inside) and she will let you know where the man you need to find is.
Go get the azura's star after you talk to the guy in the inn in Winterhold
Return to the INN IN WINTERHOLD AND TALK TO THE SAME GUY.
**** DO NOT ... DO NOT GO BACK TO THE PRIESTESS. FOR YOU WILL GET AZURA'S STAR THAT ONLY CAPTURES CREATURE SOULS AND GETTING A GREATER SOUL FROM CREATURES IS A WILD GOOSE CHASE
- After all. If you want it easy get the man in the inn repair it. If you want to be a "I can be a boss" character you go to Azura to get the Azura's Star
Archery:
Help Faendal with Camilla and he would become your follower, Faendal is the Dark elf or Wood Elf, im not sure which one, but he is the only one in the village (EXCLUDING THE GUARDS) that carries arrows on his back. When you get Faendal to follow you, ask him to train you in archery and pay in your gold as much as you can, then ask to trade things with him and get back the gold, this can be repeated as many times.
Fairly high in the mountains near Falkreath is a camp with FREE archery training called Angi's Camp, Angi has targets set up and when you ask her for practice when you hit the targets your archery goes up. After the training, you get her hunting bow which is renamed as Angi's Bow, its nothing special at all.
And here are directions to her camp. Its fairly easy to find once you follow the directions and you look at the ground to see the pathway going up the mountains.
