I'm really not one to get overly distressed at celebrity deaths, even when I am a genuine fan of the artist's work. I always find it sad, but this...this is somehow leagues worse than any others I can remember. I think for me, like so many others, I've grown up with his films. He's been in movies for as long as I can recall watching them. And there was always this sense that he was timeless, untouchable - much like Peter Pan. Watching Hook will never be the same for me, and probably most other fans. There's forever going to be this other much more mournful quality to Neverland. I already can't watch scenes from it without tearing up. I'll admit that I spent last night fairly upset about this. No, I didn't know the man, but the loss of such an amazing, compassionate and creative spirit - and especially in such a circumstance - is thoroughly heartbreaking. Realizing that those sparkling, laughing eyes hid so much pain is crushing.
Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning... Rest in peace, Robin. We already miss you, but you'll never be forgotten. Your many gifts to the world are treasures.
