Ysarth the watcher
High Elf of the Skyrim wilds
Ysarth Wildborne looked past the female Blade's blank expression of deep thought and shared the same irritation with the many visages gathered behind her. Even the near hidden face of the Khajiit with the hood depicted a calm laced with irritation - all either from the amount of time it had taken he and Emric to rejoin them or the wasting anticipation for battle.
'Fine - I suppose I could expect such a suggestion from a high elf. Bloodthirsty, powerhungry bastards.' Allerya trailed off, causing Ysarth to manage a quick smile that masked the seething rage of such a comment deep under his skin. The scar began to itch and his body became tensed all over, and with it, the need for use of his hidden dagger.
The Blade began dispersing the group into places, separating the group of Khajiits, namely the hooded one that guarded the female mage, with the Khajiit that looked encumbered with the weights of the world and the two companion Kahjiits, one named Kivuli, behind a rock formation that, with a small jump, would land them just behind the dead fireplace. Ysarth, the Breton mage and the spellsword were ushered down the path but close enough that enabled them a short a sprint to land them ontop of the cage entrance, although Ysarth doubted any sprinting would happen as the scree was littered with flat, sharp stones that would present themselves as a challenge for anyone looking to gain a foothold at a fast pace - why had she done that?
As he made his way to his postion, accompanied by his two magicka-user compatriots, he found Emric placed with the Ebony knight within bow-shot of the entrance to the cave and Casamir alongside the Blade opposite the drop-off where the Khajiits were placed.
'This is going to be a problem.' Ysarth gestured at the bed of flat stones to the Nord spellsword, Viarco, before sweeping away stones off the path, pathing a good surface to run up. 'Looks like we are the cavalry if it's needed. The Khajiits will be doing most of the work.' And the Altmer drew his greatsword and kissed the tip before crouching down as the sun did the same below the horizon.
It wasn't long before Ysarth caught the yielding gesture of the Blade's hand where she stood, and after moments shuffle near the cave entrance, gave the sign to the Khajiits.
Then there was shouting, something he had not anticipated, and saw Allerya jump down with Casamir in tow.
'That's us - let's get stuck in.' And he managed a grin at the Breton mage before sprinting up, bringing his greatsword to bear, sprinting up the path, loosing his footing a few times.
There was not meant to be any screaming or shouting - the Khajiits were meant to dispatch the bandits that exited in silence
Ysarth finally reached the group at the entrance with the Blade cursing at the one Khajiit, surrounded by no more than three bandits. One slumped down peacefully on the ground and two sprawled about in odd positions.
Suddenly, Allerya backhanded the mangy Khajiit and stormed inside the cave after throwing a poisonous look of dissatisfaction around the group.
Ysarth approached Emric as he and the Black knight climbed down and joined the others, following the Mage and her Khajiiti partner along with Viarco and Casamir into the cave after the Blade.
'She is making quite a name for herself and her order. What happened?' And the high elf gestured at the Khajiit that stood, caressing his cheek in shock and rage.
Allerya regarded the suggestion by the high elf - ambush. She scanned their surroundings and found ample spaces for vantage points. They might be outnumbered inside, but out here, they would dictate the tempo of battle.
'Fine - I suppose I could expect such a suggestion from a high elf. Bloodthirsty, powerhungry bastards.'
She was irritated that she had not thought of the idea - being seasoned in both guerilla tactics and open warfare, it was expected of her to lead as the tactician, and now she had a Dominion supporter taking over her niche.
Now, more irritated, she sent both the Altmer and the mage, both of whom she was happy to see the back off even though she knew they were the most valuable to the group, down the path in the hopes they would not see any action. In fact, she was counting on the four Khajiits whom she had joined up and the hunter to take down the bandits that would congregate around the fire. She wanted the warrior in Ebony armour far away as well and found a suited spot next to the hunter. 'In case the bandits get smart', she had told him. She sided herself with Casamir and could not bring herself to synthesize conversation further than a nod of acknowledgement.
Before long, as the sunlight weaned away, three bandits strolled out casually, in no apparent urgency in their positions as watchmen. Allerya waited as the three became more lax about their now-lit fireplace before signalling to the high elf to stay where he was.
When two of the bandits sat down, she pointed to the hooded Khajiit, Rahd, and watched the four cat-like bipeds jump down in silence and sneak up on the hapless bandits.
Then there was chaos. She had not seen what as she was watching the group the Altmer was in when something had happened amongst the Khajiits and bandits, but soon the situation corrected itself and three bodies the result thereof.
Allerya's hardened face became extenuated with a sour scowl and started towards the Kahjiits and found the culprit immediately - Alla-Amir, the stranger, standing with his head bowed in shame.
She found instant regret in the satisfaction of slapping the creature. She hated having to mistreat anyone, as she had been many times before, but the action seemed instantaneous.
Regarding her own shame of having done so, she hid the disappointment that had no doubt now stricken her face and stormed inside Cold Rock Pass
That one is going to come back around, she regarded in thought.
Alla'Amir was pleased to be with its friends, the four of which stood waiting for the signal of the mad Nord woman. It watched the scarier one like it in the hood, the strange peaceful state it held itself. It knew the other one was a killer, like itself, but probably a more skilled one.
There - Alla'Amir watched as the Nord human signalled to it and the others like itself to go. Below, sat foolish bandits making warm habits around a fire, and Alla'Amir jumped down just behind the group of bandit humans. All three were still unaware of any of its presence or the others like it. It found one it liked - a dark-headed man, lacking armour to protect its back, and in excitement, Alla'Amir drew his blade.
But it willed itself out of Alla'Amir's hand, and it watched as the shiny piece of streamlined steel flicked into the air and rebounded off the poor attempt of it grabbing the blade and land with a sharp twang to the ground.
The bandit, which was standing, turned about to look Alla'Amir in the eyes.
The mangy Khajiit slumped to the ground and began to burst into hysterical laughter:
'This one jests - it is not here to kill you. This one was showing juggling tricks to its others like it, whom it accompanies!'
Alla'Amir watched as the bandit's eyes widened as it regarded the group of Khajiit warriors that surrounded them, and before it could bring itself to bear, Alla'Amir drawing his second dagger of choice, slide the shiny bearer of death under the arm and ribs of the bandit and watched the life wane from its eyes.
But then the other two were up and bellowing, weapons drawn, one of which almost found Alla'Amir's head. Soon, quick action by the three like itself brought the other bandits to a sudden halt.
It hated it had made a mistake, not that it was its fault - a dagger has a mind of its own, yes.
It watched as the rest of the group approached and the Nord woman with the giant blade walked up to the group of Khajiiti. Alla'Amir realised too late that it was showing shame before a sharp pain shot out from its cheek and recoiled from the impact - the Nord had been disappointed, but how can it treat this one so?
It did not like her much more now, much more so than before, and wished to return the favour.
Alla'Amir found itself standing alone and plucked up its courage along with its fallen dagger before entering Cold Rock Pass.
