This has been a topic that some players had considered to be valid, but most people will just go ahead and say ( no you cant change your own height in skyrim, races have set heights, bosmer males being the shortest, male altmer being the tallest.)
Yeah i get that that's not what im talking here...i'm talking about possible glitches that may or may not make your own character taller.
i've seen posts of people talking about necromage perk in restoration tree + vampirism may make u taller because the game considers you as undead and removes the last label of your previous race ( which my case is nord. ) so now let me tell you some interesting facts that may validate my own conclusion.
before i start let me emphasize that i always play in third person mode so i know always when i'm detecting changes, to me first person mode DOES NOT matter because i know first person mode does not look exactly the same way as third person does ( IE if you play as wood elf male and u have lydia as follower, in first person she's straight forwardly staring at your eyes, if u switch to third person she's looking down on you. )
Becoming shorter IS possible in skyrim but only for a amount of time.
You have to do the thalmor embassy quest, now i know some of you may say ( but those are thalmor high elves they are taller than you by default ) yes i get that but that's not the point where i'm trying to get at, even if you have a high elf and you do the thalmor embassy quest, your own altmer will be considerably shorter than elenwyn and the other guards, also, as i took my nord character, finished that quest, left reeking cave and then met with my follower, i went ahead and did some fast travelling and potion selling, i stumbled across riverwood and sold some stuff to the blacksmith, i decided to stay on top of the wooden platform which is firm and stable and i noticed that in equal ground my female nord was about 1 or 2 inches shorter than my male nord.
You probably would guess female nords are shorter because male's are taller in general, that assumption is wrong, in skyrim both male and female nords have the exact same height. so i saved the game and loaded, when i returned to the game my character had gainted the 1 or 2 inches she had lost, everything was fine again, so you can be slightly shorter if you want even if u remove the party boots and clothes and put on your own armor the height difference maintains, untill u save and either load or quit game and return back to it.
Now what i want to know is how do you get to be taller? I have heard people talking about becoming a vampire lord or contracting vampirism with necromage perk may make you slightly taller, and i've heard that it may not work for all races? today i'm gonna try dawnguard for the first time and i'm excited to see if any changes do happen or not, if not i wont be salty i'll juust accept it and move on but i will try to load a few times before i get bitten to become a vampire lord because i'm really intrigued wether it does work or not.
Also i've noticed that NOT every nord is the same height, most women are the same height as my character, and the guards, mercenaries and buffed muscled men are also the same height as me but the elderely ones are shorter and also onmund the college of winterhold mage is also significantly shorter than me and he's a nord which is also very peculiar...
