Nephor The Shadow Stalker
Strike swiftly and silently.
Hello there people who read this. Welcome to my review thread where I review things. Mostly games and movies for now but let's not focus on that and get the real reason why I'm here. By now I know a lot of people have played the Tomb Raider reboot or have at least watched someone play it. Let me get this out of they way now. I'm a huge fan of the classic or original Tomb Raider games so my opinion is a little biased. I've played just about all of them and some were better than others and as Lara's bra size went up so did the stupidity and thus the reboot was the next step. So we get Tomb Raider 2013.
First off the graphics are gorgeous and the sound is crisp and clear and the voice acting is actually good. The game gets off to a good start. Action, drama, the ever popular slow-mo shot and just like a movie it drew me in. Fast paced action and interesting platforming sections kept me moving and glued to my controller for 3 days.
However my critiques go to the story on this one and awful dialogue. First there's the "I hate tombs" line that always makes me want to punch SE in the face for being so damn stupid, but I also want to shake their hands for actually projecting Lara's thoughts onto the audience so she actually feels like a character. Sadly that's all the character she really gets and ends up being the action chick that's really really good or extremely lucky. Either way there could've been something more to be done but I can't complain too much for what we got cause what we got wasn't outright awful.
Though her forgetting that she supposedly studied ancient Chinese culture was a real pain to me because it's as stupid as it sounds. The puzzles are easy. I mean really really really easy. Every optional tomb or cave I've come across was extremely short and only had 1 big puzzle. I expected a little more from these challenges. The story puzzles are fine but where's the challenging experience and the hard earned reward for the optional ones?
All in all the game's quite good. Hunting, collecting things to upgrade your gear and earning experience to give you survival skills is quite an addicting thing. If you're looking for an action game that's light on the challenge side then Tomb Raider is right up your alley. For those looking for a more hardcore experience there's always the HD Collection.
Questions, comments, suggestions? Feel free to do so.
