Spoiler Followers stats... Speechcraft? Alchemy? etc.

According to the guide some followers (i.e. Sven) have stat boosts in things like speechcraft and alchemy. Do these help me in any way?

You may be able to get them to craft you a potion or persuade someone, maybe? Not actually sure just a suggestion. Try it out.

I tried asking my follower to do Alchemy, it was an option, but she just stood there
