I Apologize if the bio isn't that long. I spent most of may day yesterday at the ER with a smashed middle finger, so now its a pain to try and type today. I also sorry I didn't get this out yesterday, like I tried to.

He has a pretty optimistic attitude, and can get along with just about anyone.
Combat Preferences: Derek prefers the trusty sword and shield combo. He uses a long sword in his right hand, and a large bulwark shield in his left hand. He was nicknamed Tank by the Dwarves due to his tendency to put his shield in front of him, and charge over anything in front of him. He also tends to draw some major aggression from enemies.

History:
Not much was known about Derek in his early years. It is known he was born to two knight parents, who gave him up for adoption. For many of his early years, he lived on the streets, stealing and taking for a living, until the day he stole from Teryn. Derek had no idea who the man was, so he assumed he was just like any other schmuck, but as he was reaching into the man's back pocket, he was caught by one of the Teryn's guards. The man, who was named Bryce Cousland, simply smiled at Derek. Taking the young boy back to Highever, Derek was formally adopted by a nice old couple. As he grew up, he made a name for himself in the fencing game, and he matured into a nice, well mannered young man. He signed on with the Cousland's soldiers as soon as he came of age, which was a good thing, as the second blight was going to be upon the world in less than a year. With the start of the new blight, the forces of Ferelden gathered to march upon the darkspawn. Derek marched with them, however, shortly after leaving Highever, he was dispatched with letters of Importance. It was sheer luck that Derek was delayed by a bad storm. Due to his delay, Derek was never able to make it back to Ostagar. Feeling terrible, he joined the Redcliff soldiers, who were having troubles of their own. It was at Redcliff that Derek first encountered Paul the Warden and Alistair. Fighting along side the two against the undead, and the darkspawn, Derek began to admire the Wardens. Derek was soon called to leave Redcliff, and assault the city of Denerim, where the Darkspawn had laid siege. Derek distinguished himself all throughout the battle, up until Paul sacrificed himself to kill the Archdemon. For a few months after the battle of Denerim, Derek continued to fight with the military against the remnants of the blight, until fate laid his path before him. He encountered a lone Warden, battling a group of darkspawn. Derek jumped into the fray, and began fighting as hard as possible, and together, they drove the Darkspawn back. As it turned out, the Warden was actually the new Warden Commander, who had been sent from Orlais to rebuild the Ferelden Wardens. Derek happily volunteered, and soon undertook the Joining. Surviving the Ritual, Derek emerged a Grey Warden. He immediately volunteered to help the Dwarves in the deep roads, as a plea had arisen from down below, and was soon dispatched to the deep roads, where he joined up with the Legion of the Dead. He had fought alongside them for almost two years, when the call for a Exalted March against the Darkspawn went out. Figuring this new army would need all the Wardens that could be mustered, Derek to his leave of the Legion, promising to return with reinforcements.
