I had Faendal show up in my house in Solitude once. I was married to Camilla though, so I think he just had his fetish for her still. I killed him though haha.
I just started a Breton using a 2h sword and using magic for ranged attacks instead of a bow. It's hard to start off due to my 3 main abilities I'm using start at 15 but it's really fun. 2h swords are awesome for just mowing people down.
They are affected by the Necromancy perks, and the other ”general perks”. Tested it on my Necromancer character. So don't take the Atromancy perks if you're planning to do that build.
She died for me all of my playthroughs too. I only find magic companions to be useful, especially arch-curate Vyrthur (as a thrall). They're the only ones that deal enough damage and don't constantly get in my way/block my shots.
