E3 2016: How Many Hours Of Gameplay Does Final Fantasy XV Have?
Hajime Tabata, director and head of development on Final Fantasy XV, has been asked before how many hours of gameplay the latest FF has within it. Now that the game is almost done, we have a definitive answer.
Speaking during Square-Enix’s E3 livestream, Tabata told those watching that if they just completed the main game, if they just went in the directions the story told them to go and ignored any distractions…FFXV could be finished in around 40 hours. “In terms of clearing the main story, we’re anticipating about 40 to 50 hours of gameplay,” Tabata said. “So at the very least, there’ll be 40 hours worth of content to enjoy in the final game.”
And then when you add in the extras, how long would it take? “With just the extra stuff alone, we’re looking at maybe 100 hours of gameplay,” he said. “So if you count all of that, maybe we’re looking at 200 hours of gameplay… the final version of the game coming out–about 200 hours total.”
200 hours is a lot even for today’s bloated AAA games. Is he sure? Well, Tabata says the high volume of activities is no accident — he knows fansĀ “have been waiting quite a while for this game,” so Square wants to ensure they have “a lot of content for them to enjoy” for their patience.
Whether Final Fantasy XV really has 200 hours’ worth of content or not, it’ll be coming out September 30 for Playstation 4 and XBox One.
