Kiyoshi is typically considered rather kind, something that surprises those who know of his status as a vampire. Even with his heightened abilities, he doesn't consider himself much above anything than a normal person. He has an odd set of rules for a vampire. Even with his bloodlust, he attempts to not kill or so much as even feed. Every few years or so, though, he is forced to feed. Even so, he does not do so without regret about his actions. His relationship with his sister has put him on a level of understanding when it comes to others. He is tactful, as well as compassionate when it comes to helping people. Even if he prefers to be alone most of the time, he longs for the company of someone who genuinely cares for him, something he has not felt since his sister's disappearance. When it comes to important decisions, he prefers to leave that up to someone else. He doesn't handle well under pressure. He doesn't care much for public views on him, meaning that he rarely thinks twice about doing something considered 'wrong', by social or religious standards.
「COMBAT DIAGNOSTIC」
» FIGHTING STYLE – Kiyoshi fights without weapons, typically putting him at a slight disadvantage, one easily covered by his speed. Not wishing to kill unless necessary, Kiyoshi's only means of fighting is hand-to-hand. At first, the somewhat frail and sickly Kiyoshi looks like a weak opponent. This changes the moment the enemy sees him move, or rather, doesn't see. He uses nothing but his fists, not relying upon anything else at all. He prefers to plan out fights beforehand, considering that he cracks under pressure. In surprise attacks, he makes many mistakes. Thankfully, these injuries can be quickly healed with his restoration magic. When fighting with allies, he'll attempt to heal them as well if possible.

» SKILLS
Master
» Restoration – Having spent hundreds of years healing his wounds, he has become a master of Restoration. He's visited countless masters of the school to teach him, spanning over centuries. He knows spells that have been forgotten with the passage of time, as well as those nearly exclusive to certain regions.
» Stealth - Kiyoshi's main interest is theft, something that he has been doing since his birth. It's not surprising that he was once one of the highest ranking members of the Hammerfell Thieves Guild, and one of the most respected. His skills only improved after his death and transformation into a vampire. When the moon is high in the sky, it is nearly impossible to see him in his shroud of shadows.
Expert
» Hand to Hand – Being adverse to killing, this is one of the only forms of fighting available to Kiyoshi. Ever since his first kill, an accident, he's studied martial arts and other fist-fighting techniques. His vampiric nimbleness only helps with this, meaning that he's nearly impossible to follow on the battlefield. Most of his hits are so fast that they can hardly be seen coming by most people.
» Speech – Kiyoshi has always had a way with words, even since his days in the streets as a child. Since he tends to shy away from combat, it's only natural that he's used to talking his way out of bad situations. As a vampire, his silver tongue has only gotten sharper with time. He's used to being able to persuade people quite easily, and if need be, intimidate.
Adept
» Acrobatics – Due to his natural agility as a vampire of the Vraseth bloodline, acrobatics are commonplace for Kiyoshi.
» Street Smarts – Having lived in the streets of many cities as a child, Kiyoshi knows his way around the basic tricks and tactics applied by citizens. He knows how to please the homeless, or get the rich to pity him.
Apprentice
» Illusion – His vampiric abilities help him to use this school's magic, even if he isn't too adept at it. He hasn't dedicated any real time to learning this school, instead relying on his natural abilities.
» Light Armor – Seeing as the probability of getting hit is higher for the unarmed Kiyoshi, he has almost alway worn Light Armor. Heavy Armor weighs too much for him, and he prefers the mobility that Light Armor offers.
Novice
» Lockpicking | Pickpocketing – Even during his life as a thief, Kiyoshi could never get the hang of either lockpicking or pickpocketing. He preferred break-ins when doors were unlocked, even if that meant making his move during the day. If he had to pickpocket someone, it would have to be with the aid of his vampiric skills and Illusion magic.
「RELATIONS」
» Thalmor [NEUTRAL] – Due to the High Elf blood in his veins, Kiyoshi manages to pass by the Thalmor without much discussion. That said, he still gets looks of disgust from them, due to his mixed blood. He personally doesn't like them much, but understands them. The Thalmor and him manage to mostly avoid conflict, minding their own business.
» Imperial Legion [DISLIKES] – Kiyoshi views the war in Skyrim as just another war, and finds neither side to be righteous. He doesn't really have anything against the Empire, but only their involvement in the war.
» Stormcloaks [DISLIKES] – Kiyoshi views the war in Skyrim as just another war, and finds neither side to be righteous. He understands the Stormcloaks' thirst for freedom, but believes they are searching for it in the wrong way.
» Falmer [NEUTRAL] – Having no opinion on these former Elves, he does his best to avoid contact with them.
» Forsworn [DISLIKES] – Kiyoshi sees them as nothing more than a group of feral warriors, more akin to dogs then humans. He pays about as much attention to them as a eagle does to a tree as it flies above. He will fight them if provoked, but otherwise will leave them be.
» The Thieves Guild [LIKES] – Far, far in the past, Kiyoshi was a member of this group. That said, he is only familiar with the Thieves Guild of Hammerfell. He still favors these guilds, regardless of the home province.
» The Companions [NEUTRAL] – Kiyoshi doesn't pay much attention to these warriors, and they don't pay much attention to him. They manage to keep themselves separated and out of touch.
» Mages College [LIKES] – Seeing them as a institution with good motives, he has no reason to dislike them. In fact, he has visited them numerous times in the past to study Restoration magic, becoming a somewhat familiar face there.
» The Dark Brotherhood [ENEMIES] – Considering them cold-blooded killers, Kiyoshi has grown quite a grudge against The Dark Brotherhood. He wouldn't intentionally seek them out to quarrel with them, but will still oppose them in more subtle ways when convenient.
「HISTORY」
» BEFORE BIRTH – Kiyoshi’s mother was a young Altmer woman by the name of Ayrenn Direnni. She lived in the town of Skaven during 2E 678. She worked as a bartender at a local tavern, where she made enough money to support herself. Most of her life was simple and peaceful, devoid of any particularly tragic events. That was, until a group of Imperial bandits sacked the city. The bandits ran about the city engaging in their typical activities of burning, pillaging and raping. Ayrenn hid inside her small home, barely anything bigger than a shack. During the attack, a group of multiple bandits broke into the house. In a frenzied fury, they defiled Ayrenn. After the act, they were driven out of the city by the guards, but only after.
After many months, Ayrenn was residing in the city of Dragonstar. It wasn’t very obscure to her that she was pregnant, with twins. Even though the children came from such a horrendous act of criminality, Ayrenn was determined to give birth to them and raise them. The night of the twin’s birth was stormy, with thunder booming in the background. As she lay on a stone bed in an apothecary’s, she gave birth to the twins. One was a fragile-looking boy who initially had trouble breathing, and a larger girl who seemed considerably tougher. The strain of giving birth was too much for Ayrenn to handle, and she only caught a momentary glimpse of her two children before she passed away.
» CHILDHOOD [13 years] – Born without a father or mother, the two children were temporarily taken in by the owner of the apothecary. She specialized in the study of foreign countries, with her primary focus of research being Akavir. This woman named the boy Kiyoshi and the girl Izumi, both rather odd names. Neither child ever discovered her reasoning in naming them those odd names, seeing as she abandoned them when they were 7. Forced onto the street, the two twins survived off of begging and theft. Wishing to protect his sister, Kiyoshi conducted all the theft so she could remain innocent. By the time they were 10, Kiyoshi had saved up enough money to pay for a carriage ride to Evermore, which they happily took, leaving the town and province they were born in behind.
Kiyoshi and Izumi arrived in the town of Evermore in 2E 688, instantly setting to work. Using the thievery skills he had learned earlier, Kiyoshi stole all kinds of items from various homes. Knowing that they would be leaving the city soon anyway, he stole great amounts, not worrying about leaving a path. After he had managed to fence off the majority of his stolen goods, he and Izumi left with heavy pockets. They set off for Wayrest, hopping into a carriage and sleeping most of the way there.
Once they arrived in Wayrest, Kiyoshi set his eyes on a small shack in the corner of the city. Using the stolen money from Evermore, he purchased the shack. He and Izumi lived there, with Kiyoshi actually getting a real job instead of thievery. He somehow managed to persuade the blacksmith of the town to apprentice him, which wasn’t too much of a challenge considering the man had a kind heart. Izumi and Kiyoshi spent the next 3 years in Wayrest, living off the money that Kiyoshi pulled in from work. But their life was not without hardships. Many stores refused to let Kiyoshi or Izumi in, claiming that they “didn’t want half-breeds driving away customers”. Shortly after the twin’s 13th birthday, their peaceful times in Wayrest ended.
» TEENAGE YEARS [7 years] – On a rainy night, a man clad in long black robes entered the town of Wayrest. He had spent the last year searching for two children, who had been accused of a large amount of theft. The citizens of Evermore had posted a bounty on their heads, justified by a witness who said he had seen the two children in the town during the time of the crimes. Not only that, but there was evidence left behind at the scene. The mistake was so simple that only an amateur thief would have left it. And so, the man had searched for them. After such a long time searching, he had found them. Turning the doorknob to the shack, he snuck in. Instead of seeing the scene he was hoping for, of two children peacefully sleeping, he found Kiyoshi sitting awake on the edge of the bed with his sister asleep beside him. He had been ‘saved’ by his insomnia.
Kiyoshi’s presence, however, did not change the man’s course of action. He lunged forward, knife poised for Kiyoshi’s chest. Surprised, Kiyoshi quickly grabbed the man’s wrists and initiated a wrestle for the knife. The years spent working for the blacksmith paid off, and Kiyoshi found himself in control of the situation. With a quick push, Kiyoshi flipped the knife around and drove it into the man’s neck, splattering blood over the ground and his chest. Quickly realizing what he had done, he looked down at his hands, to find them covered in thick blood. Within seconds, the contents of his stomach had deposited themselves onto the ground in front of him.
Quickly grabbing everything of value in their shack, Kiyoshi woke up Izumi and ran from the town with her. They headed straight to the dock, grabbing the first available boat to Daggerfall. On the ride to the city, Kiyoshi explained everything he knew to Izumi. They made plans to hide in the city and gather enough money to move to another province. Kiyoshi suggested Cyrodiil, but Izumi thought that the Altmer of the Summerset Isles would offer them more hospitality. After much debate, they decided upon the Summerset Isles, with Izumi convincing Kiyoshi due to its distance from Wayrest.
By the time they set foot in Daggerfall, the year was 2E 691. They moved into the poorest area of the city, living in a small alley that they managed to clean up and make livable. They considered it a temporary home, at least until they managed to get enough money for a proper home. Kiyoshi began his normal routine of thieving, although he would cross the city to get to the more expensive homes. They began stockpiling goods under a tarp in the ally, hidden away. Thing was, Kiyoshi didn’t have the faintest clue where to sell them. He searched the city, and began to see a deep Thieves Guild imbedded in the city. It wasn’t long before they approached him, offering him the opportunity to join the guild and use its fences.
Accepting, Kiyoshi found himself even deeper with the criminal organization. He began to rise the ranks, earning more and more money as he went along. He soon found himself with enough money to purchase a large home in the middle class area of the city. And so he did, moving in with Izumi. And for the second time in their lives, they experienced what was close to normalcy. Time passed quickly as Kiyoshi worked as a thief. Izumi found herself a job at a local herbalist’s shop, so she could pass the time while Kiyoshi was working.
The twins were now 17, the year being 2E 695. Whilst Kiyoshi was working, Izumi looked for ways to pass her time. She took frequent walks around the city, her favorite spot being a few beautiful gardens a while away from their house. One day, she went to the gardens to have lunch. After she had finished her food, she noticed that storm clouds were gathering above the city. Within a few minutes, a steady downpour had befallen the city, with thunder booming in the background. Izumi ran home, opting to go through the poorer part of the city as a shortcut to get home. As she was running down an alley, a cloaked man stepped out and caused her to trip as she ran. The impact with the stone ground caused her to go unconscious. When she woke up a few minutes later, the man was nowhere to be seen. She hurried home.
A few days passed, and then an event happened late one night. Coming home late due to a job, Kiyoshi found Izumi asleep on the bed. He went to wake her up so he could tell her about the good news, which was that they almost had enough money to move to the Summerset Isles. He shook her shoulders, only to find her unresponsive. Bewildered, he tried to take a heartbeat from her wrist. Nothing. Beginning to feel frightened, he placed an ear on her chest to listen for a beat. Once again, nothing. Looking up, he began to feel tears well up in his eyes. But a glimpse of red caught his eye, leading him to wipe away the tears and look closer. Bending over to look at her neck, he saw two small red puncture holes. Dismissing it as some odd injury, he placed his fingers on her neck to make absolutely sure she had no heartbeat. Just as his fingers were about to touch her neck, Izumi’s eyelids snapped open. Taken aback, Kiyoshi looked into her eyes. Instead of their usual blue, they were a deep red. Ignoring this, he took her in a hug. She whispered a work into his ear. “Thirsty…”
Kiyoshi sprinted downstairs and grabbed a glass of water, quickly bringing it up to her. She knocked it aside, and instead pointed towards Kiyoshi’s neck and repeated her earlier line. “Thirsty…” Mystified, he asked her what she meant. She replied with one simple word. “Blood.” Kiyoshi jumped back in fear. So that was what the puncture marks meant. Besides some slight nightmares and insomnia, he hadn’t noticed anything odd about her those past few days. Coming to the realization that his twin sister was now a vampire, he had to mull over what to do for a while.
Knowing that he couldn’t just let her go out into the city to feed off the innocent civilians, he offered himself as food. Every 3rd day, Izumi would feed from Kiyoshi. He would buy potions to combat both the disease and the loss of blood, which began to draw rather heavily out of their savings. Years passed in this manner, with Kiyoshi barely managing to scrape by on his earnings as a thief. Constantly on the edge of becoming a vampire himself, he found that his skills as a thief rose whenever Izumi fed off of him. On their 19th birthday, they celebrated their lives thus far with a somewhat grandiose feast, attended by many members of the Thieves Guild. On this day, Kiyoshi was once again promoted in the ranks of the Thieves Guild. He was now the rank of Master Thief, becoming distinguished in the criminal underground of Hammerfell.
A few months after the birthday feast, Kiyoshi heard a knock on the doors to their home. Answering the door, he found a cloaked man standing there. The man asked Kiyoshi if he would step outside for a moment to ‘discuss business’. Reluctantly agreeing, Kiyoshi stepped outside to follow the man. No sooner than his foot touched the street, did he feel them lifted off the ground. The man had grabbed Kiyoshi by the collar with one hand, lifting him off the ground with seemingly inhuman strength. Retaliating, Kiyoshi sent a kick flying towards the man’s chest. The man caught his foot with both hands, releasing Kiyoshi’s collar. Before he could even fall, the man threw Kiyoshi down the street with a mighty swing. Bouncing off the stone street, Kiyoshi felt his ribs break. Coming to a stop far down the street, he could slowly feel his consciousness fading. The last thing that Kiyoshi saw before fainting was two blood-red eyes peering out from underneath a hood.
Kiyoshi woke up gagged, strapped to a stone bed, surrounded by what appeared to be a large gathering of cloaked men. Looking around, he struggled to break free from his bonds. After a few moments of relative silence, the men all reached up to their hoods. In an almost simultaneous action, they all pulled them back. Scanning the crowd, Kiyoshi noticed a similarity between all the men. Blood red-eyes and pale skin. He attempted to scream, but it was muffled by his gag. He violently tried to break free from his bonds as the men approached, their sharp teeth glistening in the relative darkness of the room. He was forced to painfully lay there as each man took their turn of sucking the blood out of his neck. Desperately trying to break free, his attempts proved futile. After the last man pulled his fangs from Kiyoshi’s neck, his body began to calm against his will. He felt light, lighter than ever before. He glanced at his arm, which had turned to the color of a bright sacred lotus blossom. He could feel himself entering a state of sleep, although it almost seemed as if it was also death. He muttered his sister’s name before fading into the darkness of his sleep.
Days later, he awoke in the same room. His eyes fluttered open, looking around the room. The first thing that he noticed was that the room seemed brighter, although there were no new light sources to speak of. Groaning in pain, he flexed his wrist. He was immensely surprised to find the bindings break easily from the small motion. Pulling his limbs from their constraints, he was equally surprised to find that all broke as if they were paper. Sitting up, he took another look around the room. There wasn’t much in the room at all, besides the bed and a mirror. A door was nestled into the corner by the mirror, although it seemed as if it wasn’t intended to open from his side. Approaching the mirror, he peered into it. The reflection he received was shocking. He peered into his own eyes, which were instead of their usual black, a deep dark red. His skin was far paler than usual, something that was nearly instantly clear.
He fell to his knees, his hands running along his neck, feeling the multiple puncture marks that were there. Screaming out loudly, he cursed the men who had turned him into this. He drove his fist into the mirror, shattering it. Beginning to sob, he fell onto his side. He had lost his sister, with no idea of where she was. He was now a vampire, an evil creature of the night. His pain dragged him into a sleep, which lasted many hours. Waking, Kiyoshi gained new resolve. He decided he would set out to find his sister, while trying to resist the temptations of his bloodlust.
Making his way out of the room, he headed down the hallway that lad outside the room. At the end of the hallway was a door that led outside, out into the night. Walking towards it, Kiyoshi noticed bottles lying around on the floor. Bending down to inspect them, he realized they were filled with blood. Surprised that he no longer had a gag reaction towards the sight of blood, he hesitated before grabbing a few and stowing them in his pack. Hurrying towards the door, he pushed it open and stepped into the darkness of night. And thus, he began his journey to find his sister. A journey that would last countless centuries.
「TRIVIA」
Kiyoshi means "pure" in Japanese. This is a pun, considering how diluted Kiyoshi's blood is in terms of pureness.
Wakahisa roughly translates to "forever young". Another pun, this time based off of his status as a vampire.
Even though Elder Scrolls lore hints that the offspring of a couple will be the mother's race (Lord Lovidicus and Luktuv), I decided to take creative liberty here. I still took this into consideration, although I did alter it a considerable amount. My way of attempting to fit the lore includes making Kiyoshi more like an Imperial, and having Izumi appear closer to a Altmer.
There are a great many number of distinct variations of Vampires. A rough estimate would say over 100. This said, if the type of Vampires shown here seems odd, it is only because they are a different variation then the ones you would find in-game. Kiyoshi and the vampires shown are of the Vraseth bloodline. They have heightened nimbleness.
A (somewhat) little known fact about Vampires is that they are actually undead. To become a Vampire, one must first die. (Although this isn't shown clearly within the game.) This explains Izumi's temporary "death".
My rather poor excuse for the Japanese names is Akiviri culture. The problem is that Japanese as a language or naming system isn't actually mentioned within the Elder Scrolls, even if their architecture and weapons appear sporadically.
Kiyoshi attempts to be a pacifist whenever he can.
