I Am Setsuna Joins Switch Launch Lineup
Square-Enix announced today that their throwback RPG I Am Setsuna will be a launch title on the Nintendo Switch. Previously available on Playstation 4, PS Vita and XBox One as a digital title, this will be the first physical release for the game.
Previously, I Am Setsuna had a release date of “March,” meaning it was expected within the month but not confirmed for launch day. Now it is, and combined with the other offerings that makes seven launch games overall (1-2-Switch, The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+, Just Dance 2017, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Skylanders: Imaginators, and Super Bomberman R). For comparison’s sake, the Wii U had 23 games at launch.
Setsuna’s presence makes the Switch launch a little less disappointing, at least for those who didn’t play it the first time. It got decent reviews, and combined with Zelda and the return of Bomberman, that makes three non-casual games to keep your new console/handheld/whatever running hot and free of cobwebs.
One unanswered question, though: when I Am Setsuna launched on other platforms last year, the price was $40. Will this be the same price on Switch, or will we be charged an extra $20 just to have it on a new system? Some of Nintendo’s decisions regarding the Switch have been consumer-unfriendly, so don’t be surprised if this port comes with a $60 sticker. Fair warning!
