Romancing SaGa 2 Being Localized For The US After 23 Years
Regional differences are harsh. Sometimes an entire continent will not get to experience an excellent game unless they know Japanese and/or import. For example, Australia and the entirety of Europe never got Chrono Trigger on SNES. Its DS port marks the first time any of those countries got to experience it legally.
While America’s been fortunate for the most part, we have our missed titles. No one outside of Japan got the Square SNES games Secret of Mana 2, Bahamut Lagoon, and Romancing SaGa or its sequel. The former two still have not been rereleased, but SaGa’s been luckier. The first Romancing SaGa was remade for the Playstation 2 in 2005, and America got that version.
Now something similar is happening to Romancing SaGa 2. Unlike its predecessor, its graphics aren’t being overhauled, but the controls are being remade for mobile devices. This port came out in Japan last month, and today Square announced on its official Twitter that a US localization was in the process of happening. That’s all well and good, but how about a button version? …..ha ha. Square is done with localizing Vita titles and it’s pretty much ignoring the possibility of digital releases on the 3DS.
As for anyplace else, right now only America is confirmed to be getting Romancing SaGa 2.
