What Would A Mobile Fire Emblem Be Like? Guess We’ll Find Out
Nintendo had no problem selling its first mobile title, Miitomo, to the masses. Japan ate it right up, and America followed suit. What’s next?
Today during their financial earnings report, Nintendo revealed what they were thinking of: Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing. Unlike Miitomo, which was more of a social media experiment, these will be closer to their console and handheld incarnations, albeit without buttons.
“Compared to Miitomo, they have more prominent game elements, and the game content will tie closely into Nintendo’s dedicated games business,” says Big Mario. “Nintendo will provide more details about these applications closer to their launch period, and aims to have multiple types of apps that appeal to different audiences and different groups of players.”
No one really knows how either of these titles would work, but Nintendo revealed one thing: the Animal Crossing app would be able to communicate with an Animal Crossing game on their hardware. They didn’t explain if this meant a new AC or a patch for an existing AC that allows such communication. Or what the benefit would be to this. We’ll find out.
What about Fire Emblem? Nintendo said this mysterious app would be “more accessible in comparison to the Fire Emblem games for Nintendo’s dedicated gaming systems,” which hopefully doesn’t mean “dumbed down.” They promised, however, that it would “offer the great value of a role-playing strategy game.”
