Grandia II Launches On Steam In A Week
GungHo Online Entertainment America, which now holds the rights to the Grandia series as well as every other property in the Game Arts library, announced today the release date for the Steam version of Grandia II: August 24, or next Monday.
Also, this version of the game has been retitled “Grandia II Anniversary Edition” because it’ll turn 15 years old this year. It’s not just the name that’s new….the Anniversary Edition will also have a Japanese voice acting track option, gamepad support, and a new harder difficulty level. GungHo has many other classic JRPGs it’s sitting on, but the fans chose Grandia II to come out first in an online poll.
“After careful consideration, we have chosen to retitle the game for PC to Grandia II Anniversary Edition in order to properly celebrate Grandia II’s 15th anniversary,” Kazuki Morsishita, president and CEO of Game Arts, said in a statement. “The fans voted and, now, we are proud to bring a revamped edition of the classic role-playing game from Dreamcast to PC as Grandia II Anniversary Edition.”
Grandia II: Anniversary Edition will cost $14.99 at first, but that’s a sale price. It will then move up to $19.99 at an unspecified time, so not to put any pressure on you, but….yeah. Better add to your Pile of Shame if you want to save five bucks.
