Final Fantasy 15 Delayed Due To Bugs
Last week when a two-month delay was announced for Square’s Final Fantasy 15, no one really knew why. This week’s Famitsu, however, solves that mystery…a new interview with director Hajime Tabata reveals the game turned out to have some bad bugs that Square wished to fix.
“For starters,” he said, “the optimization isn’t [yet] sufficient. There are also various bugs as well as places in which the frame rate drops.” Not all of these glitches are bad enough to interfere with gameplay, but they’re embarrassing enough to eradicate. “There are still of number of bugs like characters floating unnaturally in the air or appearing all strange [and glitchy]. We are going to fix the issues,”
Tabata admitted it would be possible to stick to the original release date and fix the bugs though a day-one patch. This is what any other company would have done, but Square is concerned about the people who don’t connect their consoles to the Internet. That doesn’t sound like a lot of people, but Tabata cited a source that stated the number was over twenty percent in Japan — enough, in his opinion, to avoid leaning on patches.
This delay also gives the team the opportunity to make some last-minute adjustments. “Another thing is that I also wanted to refine the game balance,” says Tabata. Final Fantasy XV will be released November 30.
