To tear at the fabric of the universe
To study where the sheet folds
It is there where I will excel and exceed
It is there where I will be know immortal.
Just be careful not to tear.

Shadow flitted amongst the knotted stones of the fort. "Down!" she cried. "Down! Shoot the bastard down!"
All was chaos. A group of about twenty-five men in tan guard tunics cried out as one voice in earnest. A broken shield the color of moistened honey lay forgotten next to a blank wall that outlined a faint flickering of fire that coated it's wood; the shield beheld an image of a horse with a curling tongue. These were Whiterun guards.
"Gods curse it! It won't die!" one young guard cried out, holding his bow above his head as if it were a shield to hide behind.
A woman stepped forward into the burning light of the sun. Her armor of fur gathered well to her muscular torso. Archer's gauntlets - covering only the index, middle, and ring fingers - covered her roughly built wrists. Warpaint crowded around her eyes to depict a double-sided war axe with a small design running down the bridge and base of her nose. She was pale, with startling grey eyes and a commanding, guarding aura. "Orvan, don't be a skeever-brain," she growled, having to raise her soft voice over the distinct cries that rose around them. "It's just a dragon. We can kill it and then go back home!"
"Home...home...home," Orvan pleaded to the skies. "Akatosh, save me!"
Oh, you're helpless, Labrys thought as she walked forward and clapped him on the shoulder. "Fine. Go back into cover. But next time, whatever we face, I expect you to be up front and ready! Got it?"
Orvan swallowed dryly and nodded, running back with his bow and slinking into the interior of the fort. They were at Whiterun's Western Watchtower, but the place was in ruins; stone bricks hobbled unevenly, scattered amongst the ground in pieces, and the main walkway was destroyed past recognition.
In Labrys's hand was grasped a spectral bow, so transparent that it was nearly white and invisible in the light. She took aim with a bound arrow and loosed it.
The shadow in the skies above came into better recognition. It was a horned, ruffled creature with bog-red scales and eyes are fiery as a volcano.
A dragon.
The second one that Labrys had ever faced, and the second attack this month. Last time it was a small one, though. But this one ... it was some kind of storm dragon, she supposed, as lightning arched between it's wings. She suppressed a shudder and slid back into the shadows.
Aim, loose. Aim, loose. Aim, loose ... repetition gained it's recognition. The dragon finally staggered slightly in the air. Labrys took a second to glance at her company, a group of guards that cried out in both terror and in promised threats. "We are Whiterun's protectors!" she yelled to them all suddenly. "We will not give up! This dragon will die by our arrows and our home will be safe again! Work, boys, let your arrows fly." She loosed another arrow. The dragon lighted upon the ground. Some men ran towards it. She stayed behind, shooting, shooting-
It crept towards her. Her heart clenching, she took a step back. Something crunched under her grip. She flinched and looked down and saw one of their very own guards right behind her, laying motionless ... a second confirmed that he was dead.
She looked back in front of her. Her heart screamed to attack or flee as she beheld a set of gleaming scales, furious eyes, and a set of angry horns glaring at her. The dragon opened it's mouth, and she crouched and picked up the broken shield with her free right hand, hugging it in front of her as the creature readied for it's oral attack. Running would do no good.
Shor guide me, she prayed softly in her mind as a flash of hot air rushed past her.

No main plot idea. You can learn more about my character in my signature, where I have provided a character link. Please do check it out! Please provide me with some kind of small bio of your character - it doesn't need to be much, just enough to begin with - for your first post. This is an open RP thread, obviously, so always feel free to join in!
