The World Of Biomutant Is Pretty But Dangerous
Who will save the beings of Biomutant? Who will come to their rescue? The planet is in trouble, but that goes without saying for post-apocalyptic worlds like this one. A vicious plague is poisoning life of all kinds, including the all-important Tree of Life that the entire living system runs on. Communities are divided and prejudice toward each other is rampant. The world needs a hero. Enter you.
Biomutant is what developer Experiment 101 refers to as a “Wung-Fu fable RPG.” The combat is heavily martial arts based, and as your character mutates they will gain additional moves and abilities to become even more dangerous. For example, it’s possible to pick up psionic powers like levitation and telekinesis, if you know what to look for.
You’ll also have weaponry, most of which you can make on your own by gathering materials, or modifying existing weapons to make them more powerful. Gear is also important, and different equipment will be required for exploring some areas. “Equip a gas-mask and an oxygen tank for exploring the Dead Zones, thermos-resistant clothes for venturing into cryonic areas or protective gear for taking on bio-contaminated creatures,” advises the dev team.
Biomutant is loosely narrated by a “Storyteller,” but you don’t necessarily HAVE to do what the story suggests. This is an open-world RPG where you are free to go wherever you want. Just…think about saving the world at some point.
Biomutant will be released on May 25 for Playstation 4, XBox One and PC. Those who preorder the game will receive the Mercenary Class Loadout DLC for free upon launch.
