Shenmue 3 Introduces “Slacker Backer” Campaign
The Shenmue 3 Kickstarter, which launched during E3 and lasted about three months, earned Yu Suzuki and his development team about half their stretch goals, which will allow them to expand certain areas of the game — but not all of them. Suzuki was hoping for ten million, and he got a little over six million.
Since then, he says he’s heard from many people who would have contributed to the Kickstarter campaign, yet “slacked off” and didn’t get to it until it was too late. In that spirit, he’s launched a second campaign, the “Slacker Backer” campaign, to give these people a second chance and get his contibutor budget a little closer to ten million dollars.
The Slacker Backer period will continue through December 31st. While the full game will be completed as promised with the use of the funding collected on Kickstarter, any additional funding collected here will go towards reaching the Stretch Goals to make the game even bigger and deeper. The three month window was set to allow a long enough time to for everyone who wants to support Shenmue III to do so, but short enough to keep the release date on track.
The PayPal page will feature a selection of rewards from the Kickstarter campaign including the Trial Version and the Collector’s Edition. If you missed out on the Kickstarter, you still have a chance to be part of the Shenmue legacy!
The “Slacker Backer” campaign for Shenmue 3 will be arranged through PayPal and expire on December 31st. You now have all the time in the world to help Ryo avenge his father…..if you miss your chance this time, you’ll be out of excuses.
