New Trailer For The PS4’s “Fairy Fencer F”
Never heard of Fairy Fencer F? You have now. The official trailer for the action-JRPG was released this morning by Idea Factory, the company localizing and publishing the game. Actual gameplay doesn’t show up in the trailer until a minute in, due to a lengthy backstory. If you prefer, the backstory is faster to get through in text:
Long ago, a war was waged between the Vile God and the Goddess.
The battle was fierce; the two were equally matched. Finally, both sides unleashed special weapons that contained fairies imbued with their power. Using this power, each god sealed away the other within another world. And so, time passed…
The weapons that the Goddess and the Vile God left were called Furies, and the warriors who used them were called Fencers. Rumors arose that the Furies were so powerful, whoever collected them all would be granted one wish. As a result, Fencers fought each other endlessly to obtain them.
By chance, a young man named Fang happened to unwittingly become a Fencer, and saved a girl named Tiara. And she, too, was a Fencer.
From that day forward, Fang found himself an important part of the battle between the Goddess and the Vile God.
Fairy Fencer F can be played in three different ways depending on the viewpoint you choose to follow: the Goddess story, the Vile God story, or the Evil Goddess story. Through the choices and decisions you make in these stories, multiple endings can be seen for each.
But what’s any decent big-eyed anime character JRPG without heavy customization? In FFF not only can you customize and upgrade your characters and their weapons, Idea Factory says you can “change dungeons stats through world-shaping.” Does this mean you can make them easier or harder?
No reviews are out for FFF yet, but with the release coming in a little over a week, it shouldn’t be long. Fairy Fencer F comes out for Playstation 4 on July 26.
