Stardew Valley Will Come To Consoles Eventually
Stardew Valley, the runaway hit creation from one-man developer ConcernedApe (aka Eric Barone), needs to expand. But it’s tricky when you’re going at it solo. Barone made the entire original game on his own. People would like to play it on consoles, but how can he make that happen? By enlisting help.
In a blog post published on his website this morning, Barone mentioned there should also be co-op multiplayer added to the game at some point…as well as translations for non-English-speaking gamers, a Mac version, and even merchandise. “Now, there’s obviously a huge amount of work involved to achieve all this… and I am just one person. I know in the past I’ve been very adamant about doing everything myself… and I still am, when it comes to game design and content. However, I’ve decided to seek outside help for some of the more technical things listed above. More specifically, I’ve accepted an offer from Chucklefish in which they will handle the porting, localization, and the technical side of multiplayer.”
Chucklefish was the publishing company that originally brought Stardew Valley to Steam. For the time being, it looks like their employees will be handling the ports, though it’s enough work that they may need to expand. As for the PC version, Barone says updates will continue, and that the original version will remain a one-man show.
On that end, here are some updates Barone will be adding himself in the near future:
- More late-game content
- New farm buildings
- New crops
- New artisan goods
- New advanced farming/producing mechanics
- Shane and Emily will be marriage candidates. They will also have more events and dialogue as a result.
- More marriage content for all spouses
- More events for the non-marriage NPC’s
- Improvements/Additions to mining and combat
- Ability to move buildings and other convenience features
- More bug fixes
- More secrets
This wishlist is for Version 1.1, which Barone currently has no timetable for completion.
