Release Date Confirmed For Dragon Quest 8 On 3DS
A few months ago we had to report that the portable version of Dragon Quest 8 had been sidelined due to the release of Dragon Quest 7 being so close to it. The move was understandable, but disappointing nonetheless.
Since then we haven’t known when Nintendo planned to put the game out…until today. The company confirmed they would be releasing Dragon Quest 8 on 3DS January 20, 2017. Which isn’t that far off, so….good.
It’s mostly the same game, but there is a fair amount of new content….more story, new side quests, two new characters to recruit, full voice acting, StreetPass functionality, a fast-forward feature for when battles get tedious, an alternate ending and a quick-save feature. The graphics have also been given a slight upgrade over the PS2’s.
The one thing this version doesn’t have is the orchestrated soundtrack of the original: there simply wasn’t room. A synth sound-alike will be used instead.
Here’s a trailer so you can see it all for yourself. Dragon Quest 8 comes out for 3DS this January.
