Bethesda Shoots Down ESO Console Release Date Rumor
Eagle-eyed people who for whatever reason closely watch Microsoft’s online store noticed last week that the company had listed the Xbox One version of The Elder Scrolls Online as Feb. 24, 2015.
Bethesda has reacted with, well, it’s too strong to call it a denial. They aren’t denying that Feb. 24 could be a release date, but they are saying they haven’t announced that day as an official release date.
Parse the PR-speak fromBethesda’s PR and marketing manager Pete Hines, who told GameSpot, “We haven’t announced a release date.”
He added “Beyond that, I can’t comment as we don’t comment on rumors and speculation.”
Microsoft has now changed its date to a generic 2015. GameSpot points out that other online retailers seems to list a definite place-holder date of Dec. 31, 2015 for the game.
So I guess we’re back to waiting. We’ll let you know when a date is confirmed for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.
