Elizabeth was nearly paralyzed. She knew what the rush of people meant. More of those creatures like the thing she'd seen in Falkreath. She followed Torin, trying to control her fear, and succeeding, barely. She followed him to the street outside the hall of the dead. Then she turned to the ranger that had saved her life days ago. "What do you think they're doing down there?"

"I'm not questioning your skill" she said, glancing at the former assassin. Dust fell on her shoulder of her leather coat and she frowned. Of course, dust was in abundance in the ancient crypts. However, she'd been here before, during Simus' rebellion, and dust hadn't been in the habit of falling from the ceiling. "I suppose you remember," she said softly, to the group at large, "that you remember the large amount of claw marks on that tree outside Riverwood?" She didn't bother waiting for a response. "I don't think this...infiltrator came on its' own"

She glanced up, drawing her swords, just as the creature that had been crawling along the ceiling, dropped down, and several others dashed out from the darkness of the crypts. The one from the ceiling dropped to the ground, and slashed at the Khajiit woman, knocking her aside*. "They must not get to the city! Kill them all!" She ordered.

    T. Rakinson

    A Brute among Beasts
The creature writhed about, desperate to pull the blade out of its decayed ribcage, but thomas gave it no such satisfaction. flinging his scimitar in an arcing motion, the creature finally got its wish and was flung into the water. Apparently it couldent swim, and Thomas saw some rather jagged rocks further downstream. Uh-oh, thought Thomas. Whoever finds that things corpse better have a strong stomach.

As he watched the creature reached the tip of the waterfall and then vanished, as the red liquid poured down its throat and claimed its body. Thomas breathed a sigh of relief and then started to turn back to the girl.
    WATCH OUT! she shreiked.
He turned just in time to see another one of the creatures leap at him out of a tree, closely followed by four more. he quickly staggered backwards to avoid getting its face raked by the creatures gnarled claws, but stumbled over a large rock. The creatures started to form a circle around him, temporarily ignoring the yound girl who Thomas was guessing was one of the villagers. She looked petrified, but at least the attention was focused solely on him now.

Come on Bastards! Who wants a facefull of fire first? The redguard asked, a ball of flames flickering to life in his hands. almost as if it could understand his words, the creature to his left flung itself at him and was promptly blown back by a wave of fire. The creature screamed in pain and collapsed backwards, twitching and spasming uncontrollably as the flames quickly consumed its form. Thomas may have been mistaken, but as he watched the embers burn at its face, he could swear he saw a smile escape from its mouth, like in death it had finally found peace. he stared at the body, but now it lay still.

And then the fang pierced his back.
The pain was so inexplicaple that he didnt even cry out. quickly swinging his blade in an swirling motion, he cut the owners of the fangs sqaure across the chest. it leaped backwards to avoid further damage, not that thomas was in any condition to. Silently mouthing the words run to the girl, he began to charge what could be his last spell. It was a desperate last resort, but it beat the other one.

Just then he heard a man roar and saw all the creatures head turn in the opposite direction. As if they had descended from the realms of Aetherius, A group of guards on steeds burst into the scene and formed a circle round him and the villager girl. Thomas tried to get back up and help, but the bite was making him feel delerious, and just before he collapsed, he saw the abominations, or whatever they were, slowly close in on the circle....

    TheShadedOne

    The Angry One
Shadari wasn't in time to get out of the way. The creatures blow knocked her to the ground, and she lost her grip on her falchion. She rolled away to avoid having her face removed by a vicious swing of a clawed hand. The creature, snarled, and the Khajiit responded with a snarl of her own, removing a pair of throwing knives from her belt. It didn't look impressed. 'Okay, time to change its' mind' she thought, throwing one knife. It dug into the flesh just beside its' shoulder. That definitively changed its mind. It leapt forwards, and Shadari slipped to the side, whipping her remaining knife into its' back. The beast stiffened, turned, and bellowed at her, claws lifted to disembowel, vicious teeth ready to bite into something.

However, Shadari had worked her foot under her lost weapon, and with a sudden jerk of her leg, flipped it up, into her hand. The creature wasn't fast enough to stop or dodge, and so, it impaled itself on her blade. Stepping back, and removing the weapon from the things gut, and slashed across its' throat, just to be sure. It collapsed, and the assassin stepped over its' twitching corpse.

    Simus

Alice and Cilla knew the situation in their home was getting serious but they also knew that their father and most of their companions had done some incredible things in their short and long lives. The girls themselves had had some incredible adventures ranging from fighting for Skyrim's freedom in all out war to learning magic together at the College of Winterhold. They had become great for their ages and they knew that if needed they could help with the crisis. For now, with so many skilled adventurers and trusted friends in Whiterun and with the Companions at their father's back, they knew they could rest. Riverwood may well have been overrun but there were survivors. There were always survivors. Alice knew that and Cilla was still ignorant of the situation. Aliah and the group would find the creatures, Simus and the Companions would hunt them down and all would be well. Alice settled back into bed with Cilla and tucked both of them in, snugly wrapping them in the bed's ample blankets. They rested their heads on the soft pillows and fell asleep holding each other, certain that things would work out.

After most of the group left for the Hall of the Dead, Simus mustered Donath and Julius and headed for the Underforge. The door was open and as they entered they saw Auguste and the entire Circle assembled around the wolfblood basin. All but Kodlack Whitemane. The old warrior had never embraced his being a werewolf and he never came down here lest he indulge that part of himself. Skjor and Aela never understood why he fought so hard against what was clearly a gift and privately felt sorry for him for struggling so hard against it, but they would never tell that to Kodlack directly. Simus had known Kodlack for decades and they were good friends. He was able to persuade Simus not to join his spirit with the beast world and he had always been grateful to him for that. Simus' son Titus was another matter but he had to follow his own path, no matter how much his father didn't approve of it. Titus was the first to notice his father and his two companions.

"Hey dad." He said with a smile, his long black hair in a shaggy mane.

"Hey pal." Simus said, giving his son a quick one-armed hug. "How you been? It's been a while since you've been home. You can drop by any time you know, you'd make Carlotta happy."

"Carlotta's more than happy enough with you, Alice, Cilla and Mila. She doesn't need me in her hair too. I've been good by the way."

"You look good, strong, healthy. And you're never in her hair so. She loves you just as much as mama ever did."

"Maybe. It's not the same though and she's not mama. Just ask Alice."

"Maybe. Anyway, you didn't call me down here just so I can see my shield-brothers again."

"No Simus I'm afraid we didn't." Skjor said, stepping forward. Farkas, Vilkas and Aela stood with him and Titus and they all moved to face Simus. "I'm sure you're aware of the slaughter of Riverwood?"

"Yes. Alice had a vision just before the guards notified us."

"Everyone in the village is most likely dead, and even though any rescue party would stand no chance against the creatures Vignar has sent one out anyway. As you may know several people have disappeared throughout the hold over the past several weeks. The disappearances have gotten more frequent and closer to Riverwood. The fact that they culminated in the slaughter of most likely everyone there is not an accident. These creatures, whatever they are, threaten Skryim and are at our doorstep. Honor demands we take action so the Circle has assembled to hunt down these creatures and destroy them."

"We were hoping you'd come with us." Farkas said. "Problem is you don't move as fast as we do. In or out of our beast form."

"You're among our greatest shield-brothers Simus" Vilkas said. "And we all admire you for accomplishing so much without the Circle's gift. Even thought it was offered to you many times before."

"But these creatures are unlike anything we've faced before." Aela said. "Great as you are shield-brother you're not as young as you used to be. You owe it to yourself to use every advantage you have to face this new threat. We understand you're afraid it'll change you. That's just Kodlack talking. Titus has been one of us for months and he's only gotten stronger, faster, a better warrior. And he's still the warrior we all know and love. At his core he's still your son."

"Aela's right dad. Becoming a werewolf is nothing but a blessing for you. You'll be able to protect us, protect our family, better than ever before. Alice, Cilla, everyone. You won't become a monster. Trust us."

"Trust us Shield-Brother. We're laying into you hard, I know, and I'm sorry about that, but these are desperate times and if you do not join us you'll know you aren't doing everything you can to stop these things. You know that's true Simus. You know yourself. All you have to do is say yes and Aela will transform and spill her blood in the basin for you to drink. Just as she did for your son. What say you shield-brother?"

Simus was silent. He knew this day would come, when there would be a threat great enough for him to join the Circle. Everything they said was true but Simus knew he would no longer be human if he did this. He looked to Auguste and shook his head, silently scolding the vampire for putting him in this position. He didn't want to do this, it didn't feel right. He knew it wasn't right. Yet he was tempted to take Skjor's offer. An offer to save his home and family by becoming a monster.

He turned and looked to Donath, Auguste and Julius, hoping for some logical reason not to do this. Hoping for some release from the mounting pressure he felt.

Auguste looked at the ground in shame. He was hoping the Circle wouldn't attempt to turn Simus. There was another opportunity Simus could take, "It's not much better and I would prefer you not take this path, but I could turn you into a vampire," Auguste was hoping the old man would say no. Auguste had been alive for over 400 years and in that time he had never turned a living creature into night spawn, it was the one thing he loved about himself. Auguste turned back to the Circle, "If he doesn't want to be a Werewolf, we can just buy him a horse," Auguste was struggling to get Simus out of the situation he was in.

    Kir the Silent

    Until Your Flesh Is Consumed
As the one on the ceiling dropped behind him attacking the others, two creatures rushed him from the shadows of the crypt. He quickly drew Ebony and Ivory. As the first one of the two closed in The Lost simply thrust with his bone blade, piercing the thing through it's dead eye. The blade slide into it's eye socket and into it's brain. The creature fell down swiftly.

He ducked as a vicious swipe from the second creature came in from the side, not able to yet savor his victory. He sidestepped and deflect the blows as he observed the creature. This one was thin and lanky, someone who had not been muscular but fit in life perhaps. He was faster than the other ones and there was a strange color to his eyes. The Lost recognized the tint as some form of magic residue. He wondered as to if the others had this as well. He would have to examine the corpses later, perhaps take a few eyes for necromantic research. They may provide some answers.

It was time to end this little dance. He spun around, ending up behind the behind the thing. He thrust one of his blades against the base of it's skull, severing the spinal cord. It crumbled to the ground gurgling, foul blood bubbling from it's mouth. The Lost sheathed his swords and turned to the others seeing they had dispatched their attackers as well, "I was right it seems. Much easier to fight when you wound the head."

Auguste was growing tired of the Companions. He had already screwed up by trying to kill one of Simus' allies, now he was responsible for the Companions attempting to turn Simus? The night was, indeed, going to be a long one. It was at about this time that Auguste snapped back from his self loathing thoughts and saw Simus actually consider turning into werewolf. He wouldn't have this man turn into a beast of the night, he deserved better. Auguste said something that he thought would convince the man, "Simus, you do realize that if you take Aela's blood and turn into a creature of the night, that it will transform your soul as well? You'll be taken away from your destined afterlife and forced to live out your eternity as one of Hircine's mere dogs. You wouldn't be able to spend your afterlife with your family, rejoicing in your past battles and friendships. How would that make you feel? More importantly, how would that make Alice, Carlotta, and the rest of your family and ancestors feel? Do you think they would be happy? Do not make such a short sighted and foolish decision my friend,"
