Those hoping for a solid release date for Persona 5 to come out of TGS had their wish granted by a monkey paw today: we know when it's coming out now, but it's much later than anticipated. The game has been pushed back to the summer of 2016.

Worse yet, Atlus wasn't specific as to how this delay would affect the localization process; they didn't say if it would take even longer for America or Europe to receive Persona 5. If there is an additional delay for us, it would make Persona 5 one of the last games for the PS3 -- behavior the series is no stranger to, having debuted both Persona 3 and 4 on the PS2 long after the PS3 entered the market.

But there will also be a version of Persona 5 on PS4 as well, making this the earliest a Persona game has appeared on a console.

To make things a bit better, Atlus released a new trailer for the game. See it in full below.

These people are the Phantom Thieves, the gang of outlaws that will make up your party whenever you actually get to play this game. Your lead character, who is nameless, is a high school sophomore and we suspect the others are around the same age, as a portion of Persona games usually involves going to class. His friends include troublemaking Ryuji, half-American gossipmonger Anne, and Morgana, who is the size of a cat and may be related to a cat (look, I'm just putting down what's been reported).

Look for Persona 5 on Playstation 3 and 4 in a year, or perhaps longer.
