There is a myth that mister Ed was a zebra, not a horse.

Some people do actually believe he was a zebra. The argument is that he was a Female zebra named Amelia.
The claim was you could not see the stripes on black and white television. This is NOT true. You could see the stripes.
Look at a movie in the 60's with zebra in it, and watch mister Ed. You'll see that this is not true and you WOULD see the stripes even though
it was in black and white. Also he was just too big for a zebra, especially a female zebra. The tail is different, and if you look hos lower legs and tail and name are white.
Also, zebras are not really trainable. It's been said on documentaries that they not trainable because they are wild. Even if they are tame, they are still not trainable.
