Prometheus pitied man, offering him shelter from struggle. This would only speed mankind's extermination. He granted not just the physical in nature but also the aspect of heat and abstract concepts. From it and the cruel hearts of men conceived imagination, art, and war. Mankind could manipulate the world as he saw fit. He painted the heavenly constellations so that mankind would wonder and be reminded of the Gods.

In ancient times, men crossed paths with artifacts believed magical. They emerged as holy and disappeared forgotten to this day. The last known piece found its way to an anonymous person in the modern day who, shortly thereafter, disappeared. There were times of miracles, but in our haste to create, we forget our gift. There is danger in fire, and that is the reason behind Prometheus's eternal torment.

Last year, unusual cases known as Anomalies began to sprout up, first slowly as mere stories. Men, women, and children were discovered harboring alien gifts. They were abnormal: super, meta, evolutionary. They were Anomalies, and on the 18th of June 2015, war was declared war on them. A woman identified as Joanna Parkinson blew up a mall in Washington DC. Scientists, already baffled at these extraordinary cases, were put under supervision by the government. Anomalies were taken in for testing and some never returned home. Shortly after the incident, the International Anomaly Coalition was founded. A temporary international alliance, it intends to take in and study these Anomalies.

They are known to use force when needed. Specialists work under their care. Dangerous anomalies are identified and taken in for examinations. Many are put into confinement and not heard from again. According to the government, any Anomaly, innocent or not, could pose a threat. They are considered terrorists of a sort, feared and avoided. Some Anomalies accept their treatment, whilst others revolt. Whilst many keep their secret, most are unaware of the changes that the last year will bring to their lives. The world lives in constant fear of those anonymous, untested, unregistered. We border on violence.

The question we all want to know the answer to: what happened last year that initiated this change? Many look up to the heavens, but few look around them, or within. Fear reigns, as does the IAC. What will you do?

You're damn right I'm rewriting this thread. The old one was dead and I didn't like my character or the text I used. A new start was required, and thus here we are. Here's a list of guidelines to look at. It's your responsibility to keep to them, not mine, so don't blame me if you're abusing them. Come on man, think about the guidelines! They have rights too! Jeez.

• You may like perfect over-powered characters, but old timers like me don't. Don't power play. Don't be over-powered. Don't have a Mary Sue or anti-Mary Sue. Each character has virtues and vices, strengths and weaknesses. Your character is not more special or normal than the next. She fits into this world just as they all do. Let the characters drive the plot, not us - that's what makes it special, magical. Fight fair, be chill with losing because you can't win every battle. Take it from a college student.
• What, you didn't think that you could just play as an Anomaly, did you? You can play as anyone you want as long as it's realistic. Even dentists have a part to play. Every person here is important, and you don't have to twitch a finger or make them ginger for that to happen. Want to be part of the IAC, or normal? Go right ahead. I'm the one approving your CCs after all.
• Be creative. There's nothing wrong with a character that can fly or a villain obsessed with revenge. But it gets repetitive and it doesn't say "Ooh, look at me, I can be imaginative too!" Use that noggin of yours, and don't go to an extent to avoid using the same powers as others. I will critique you mercilessly and without shame. I have warned you. Oh, and for crying out loud, the world already has enough anti-hero teenage Gods. We need variety in all things. (I'm going to regret saying that, aren't I?)
• Keep irreverent conversation out of this thread. Out of the OC, out of the OOC, out of the SCCP. (Secret Chat for Cool People. Don't tell me you haven't heard of it? *Joking.*) We can talk about that in the group PM once it's up and running.
• There will be blood, violence, gore, and mature scenes. It's an 18+ roleplay, what would you expect?
