Never played any elder scrolls before, and got skyrim last night. Started a dark elf and looking to lvl him up as a caster. If so, do I need to have a weapon, or just equip spells in both hands?
depends on how focused on magic you want to be or if you want to mix it up and use magic and a one handed weapon. Another option is to use conjured weapons if you need them, which levels you conjuration skill instead of one-handed for using a sword or whatever. I haven't used the conjured weapons at all, so i can't say for sure if they're effective.
