Background-
Vincentia's mother was the cousin to the emperor,(not through the Mede line) but was disowned when she ran off and married a peasant mage. She was born in Cheydinal, a city that she maintains to this day as being the most beautiful in Cyrodiil. Growing up an only child, she became a little spoiled, and is often confused as to why she can't have her way. She was always a little more mature than the other children her age, so she never really befriended them, instead spending most of her time with the local Mages' Guild and listening to the stories of far-off places by foreign travelers. She became especially fond of an old Khajiit merchant named Sinzah who would always pass through on the fifth of Rain's Hand every year. Whenever he stopped by during his travels he would give her a souvenir from a country he had visited, including a keepsake box from High Rock that still uses to store all of those souvenirs. For her tenth birthday, her father gave her a spellbook, and began teaching her the basics of magic. She did not have much time to learn, however, as only a year later, her father was killed by a rival mage, and her mother drowned herself over the tragedy.
Vincentia was destined to either be sent to an orphanage, or live on the streets, but the Emperor heard the news about her parents' death, and sent for her. When she arrived at the White-Gold Tower, the Emperor informed that since she was blood, and only a child he would allow her to stay in the palace. He warned her to stay out of sight, then practically ignored her for years to come. With nothing inside the palace to occupy a young child, she spent most of her time wandering the Imperial City. She memorized the alleyways, discovered tunnels, and made friends with beggars. But her favorite place to go was the inns. Just like in Cheydinal, she would listen to exciting stories told by people just passing through. She was even reunited with Sinzah, though he passed away in Hammerfell when she was sixteen. As she grew older and befriended the local mages, she was allowed in the lowest level of the Arcane University without being told “its no place for children”. The mages let her read spellbooks and taught her a little alchemy, though they didn't dare teach her anything more advanced.
As she neared adulthood, Vincentia started to become interested in politics. The Emperor allowed her to sit on any non-Council meetings as long she remained silent. She never did, of course. She was always quick to give her opinion, then was promptly escorted out, but she was always invited to the next meeting. Her advice was never followed, even if it turned out to be helpful, and irritated her to no end. She was furious that the Emperor would ignore advice, no matter how good it was, simply because of who it came from! When she turned twenty, she requested to be allowed entrance to the Arcane University, but the Emperor forbade it. He informed her that she would be married to Jarl Siddgeir in Skyrim as a reward for being loyal to the Empire in five months' time. Horrified, she begged him to reconsider, but he was stone. Miserable, and out of options unless she wanted to run away and fend for herself, she wrote a letter to her suitor-
Jarl Siddgeir of Falkreath,
It is with much anticipation that I write to you, for our wedding day is fast approaching. I hope I will make a suitable wife, as I am already picking out names for our future children. I look forward to the day when I can teach them all I know about magic. I hope they're all as handsome as I've heard you are.
Is Falkreath as beautiful as the Imperial City? I do hope that there are sufficient herbs growing nearby, I wouldn't want my alchemy to get rusty. Are the flowers pretty? Is their smell pleasing to the nose? I've found the ones with the strongest aroma the most potent when making potions.
I do so look forward to being your wife. Why, I can warm you up with a blazing fire spell, and cool you down with a frost spell. And if you're ever having a hard time getting out of bed, I can zap you with a shock spell! Oh, I'm already cherishing the memories we'll make.
I'm counting the days.
Your future bride,
Cousin to Emperor Titus Mede II,
Vincentia Juniello
A few weeks later, the Emperor received a letter from the Jarl declining the arrangement. Vincentia started studying at the Arcane University the very next day, but she stayed living in her room in the palace. Only a year later, the Emperor was assassinated, and her position became precarious. As a blood relation and possible contender for the throne, she knew that whoever became emperor would see her as a threat, and have her assassinated as well. So she decided that she would take the throne, and ensure her own future. Even though she knows that if she ever were to officially try to make a claim to the Empire, she would have the backing of the mages, she is young and inexperienced, and was fathered by a peasant mage. She will have to fight tooth and nail to win the throne, and she's willing to do just that.
